The Benefits of a New High Efficiency Furnace Upgrade

With the latest advancements in the HVAC industry, a brand new high efficiency furnace upgrade can drastically change your home for the better with the improvements in efficiency and operation.

If you’re like many other homeowners it is very likely that you own a furnace that is over a decade old. Your current furnace might not be performing as well as it used to and may no longer be meeting your needs in terms of heating your home. Upgrading to a new high efficiency furnace upgrade can make a world of a difference for your home, your comfort, your monthly utility bill and much more.

new high efficiency furnace upgradeA high efficiency furnace is one which has an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating that is over 90. But what does this rating mean? For example, if your new high efficiency furnace upgrade has an AFUE rating of 92 that means that only 8% of the energy being put into heating your home is being wasted. This not only makes for great energy saving, but also some major savings on your utility bill. Upgrading from an old furnace to a brand new high efficiency furnace upgrade could even double your AFUE rating.

This huge increase in efficiency is a result of an upgrade in technology. Your old furnace likely has a standing pilot light. This pilot light is always burning and is one of the reasons why your old furnace wastes energy. A new high efficiency furnace upgrade will no longer have this pilot light and instead has an electronic ignition system. This electronic ignition system will save you money and energy, and is one of the reasons for an increased AFUE rating. Smart and efficient technology has always been the main focus in creating new HVAC technology and it shows in the latest products on the market.

If your old furnace is loud and troublesome when operating, you won’t have to worry about such problems with your new high efficiency furnace upgrade. New furnace models are designed to be quieter than ever and will leave you worry-free with your furnace’s smooth operation. As long as your new high efficiency furnace upgrade is maintained on a yearly basis, you will certainly be avoiding many of the problems that may exist with your current unit. On the occasion that a furnace problem does surface, it will be covered by your manufacturer warranty meaning that you won’t have to take cash out of your pocket for any expensive repairs.

By upgrading to a new high efficiency furnace you will also be doing a favour for the environment. A high efficiency furnace will lower your carbon footprint and will make a positive change to the world around you.

DeMark Home Ontario offers a variety of furnace rental, purchase, and financing options on a wide range of new high efficiency furnace upgrade models made to satisfy our customers needs and budget. Through our furnace rental program you will receive a free installation, 2 months of free rent, removal of your old equipment, as well as many other benefits.

If you have any further questions about the benefits of a new high efficiency furnace or regarding any of your other HVAC needs, don’t hesitate to contact us and take away the burden of all of your HVAC problems. We provide efficient and quick furnace replacement performed by our highly trained and experienced technicians. Air conditioner maintenance – Do it yourself

In the coming months your air conditioner will become a vital asset to your home, air conditioner maintenance is necessary to ensure that your AC unit is performing as well as it can.

It has become a rule of thumb that air conditioner maintenance should be performed once a year at the minimum. It would be in any homeowner’s best interest to have this air conditioner maintenance to be done in the spring season before the summer heat arrives, so that your home is guaranteed to be cool and comfortable when it’s necessary. If in the past you have experienced any problems regarding your air conditioner unit it would be a great idea to call a professional AC technician and book an appointment for air conditioner maintenance prior to the peak season.

Prior to reaching out for the assistance of an HVAC professional, there are a few things that you can do to keep your AC unit in its best condition and check for any existing problems. These procedures often vary depending on the type of AC unit, model, and the manufacturer’s requirements.

Before starting to perform any procedures it is crucial that you consult with your AC unit’s manufacturer or an HVAC technician to be informed of any required protective equipment or precautions which will be needed to conduct air conditioner maintenance.

Air conditioner maintenance (2)Remove any obstructions blocking airflow through vents and ducts

  • To make for the most efficient cooling of your home, move furniture , drapes, or any objects which may prevent the proper ventilation of your HVAC system.
  • Also, check that all ducts which supply air and return air are open.

Clear the area around your air conditioner unit

  • Remove any leaves or grass clippings from around your AC unit.
  • The debris or dirt can enter your air conditioning system and obstruct the airflow path which is necessary for the unit to perform safely and efficiently.

Check your air conditioner’s circuit breakers

  • Ensure that the breakers are set to the “on” setting and that not of it’s fuses are blown or damaged.

Make sure your thermostat is working correctly

  • Check if batteries are running low and replace them if necessary.
  • Make sure your thermostat is set to the right program setting
  • To test if your thermostat is measuring temperature accurately, compare results with a different temperature measuring device. If you find that the results vary, you will need to recalibrate or reset the system and try again.

Clean the fans, coils, and air filters

  • The quality of air in your home and the efficiency at which your air conditioner operated is heavily reliant on the fans, coils, and air filters. Make sure to clean these components on a yearly basis to avoid any future expensive repairs. If maintenance to these parts is ignored, damage to other crucial components of your AC system can also occur.

Clean drain holes or tubes

  • These parts are often blocked up with dirt and debris. Take a look inside and remove as much as you can.

Apply oil to the fan motor

  • This procedure depends on the type of air conditioner unit you own. Read through the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions to find out how or if you should perform this procedure.

Reset your air conditioner unit

  • A system reset can sometimes resolve any problems which caused for the system’s poor performance
  • This option isn’t available on all air conditioner models

If you find that you cannot solve your problems, call a professional

If despite your efforts you cannot find the source of your air conditioner problem or you are unable to solve, calling a professional HVAC technician to perform air conditioner maintenance should be your next step. Saving Water In Your Home

The uses for water are endless, but our Earth’s supply of freshwater is not, which is why saving water in your home is ever so important in this day and age.

Although the Earth is comprised of 71% water, only 3% is clean and safe enough for human use. The average household uses roughly 450 litres of water per day, amounting to 164,000 litres per year. Using all this water requires the use of a significant amount of energy in order to process it, pump it, heat it, re-pump it, and reprocess it. As our world population grows, the amount of freshwater only decreases. Saving water is important so that this resource which is essential to life is still here for generations to come. Luckily, there are a variety of ways that anyone or any household would be able to lower both their water and energy consumption at home. The following are some rather simple tips on how your home can be saving water and saving energy:

  • Instead of leaving the tap running while brushing your teeth — turn it off and you can save six litres of water a minute.
  • You can reduce the amount of water used in each flush by placing a cistern displacement device in your toilet. These devices can be obtained through your water provider.
  • The simplest way to save water in the shower is to simply take a shorter shower. Alternatively, saving water in the shower can be done by getting an aerated shower head, which uses a combination of air and water. You can also get a regulator, which limits the water flow rate.
  • Only use the dishwasher or washing machine when washing full loads. Washing singular or few pieces of clothing or dishes at a time is a waste of water and energy. By removing any unnecessary washing cycles and instead combing the small loads into one full load will greatly reduce your water consumption.
  • A dripping tap might seem to be no problem, but in reality in can waste 15 litres per day, which amounts to 5500 litres of wasted water a year. Fixing a dripping tap is easy and will make sure that you’re wasting as little water as possible.
  • Attaching a water butt to your drainpipe can collect approximately 5000 litres of water per year. It can be used when cleaning your car or windows and when watering plants.
  • A water hose can use 1000 litres of water per hour. Instead of using a hose to water your garden, try to use a water can to reduce all that wasted water.
  • Instead of waiting for the tap water to be cold each time you want to fill up a glass of water, fill up a jug of water and leave it in your fridge for future use.
  • A great way to know when or if you’re saving water is by installing a water meter. Knowing your home’s exact water consumption will give you a motive to reduce that number and waste less water when it’s unnecessary.
  • When purchasing new household appliances, invest in ones that are water and energy efficient. These goods can range from water heaters, taps, toilets, shower heads, dishwashers, washing machine, etc.

Getting rid of your old water heater and upgrading to a brand new high-efficiency water heater unit will do wonders in terms of saving water and energy. Heating water takes up about twenty percent of your home’s energy costs. By upgrading to a new high-efficiency water heater you can be cutting your energy costs by anywhere from 25 to 50 percent. Not only will you be saving energy and water, choosing the right water heater for you can even save you money over time.

DeMark Home Ontario offers electric, gas, and tankless water heater units available for rent in a variety of sizes ranging from 25 to 75 gallons. Natural gas water heaters are more energy efficient and cost less to run than their electric counterpart, but are also more expensive to rent.

Tankless water heaters are the most energy efficient out of the bunch and can be up to 40% more energy efficient than gas or electric water heaters. Tankless water heaters save energy and water by only heating water when it is needed for use instead of storing it.

Our water heater rent to own program is worry free and provides you with peace of mind along with many other benefits, such as:

  • 2 months rent Free
  • Free installation and removal of your old unit
  • No upfront equipment cost
  • No hidden charges

  • Free maintenance program 24/7/365
  • Free lifetime service and repairs on all parts
  • Transferrable to the next owner if you sell your house

Leaking Hot Water Heater Repair or Replace?

If you have a leaking hot water heater and are unsure of whether or not you need a repair or a replacement, we can help you decide.

A leaking hot water heater does not always mean that your water heater has reached the end of its life. The location of the leak itself is what will help you decide what your next course of action should be. What you must do now is find the source of the problem before coming to any serious conclusions.

Condensation

If you spot a puddle on the floor near your tank it could be a product of condensation. This happens when the majority of the water inside your water heater is cold. During times when hot water usage in your home is high it is common to find puddles formed as a result of condensation. The cold water in the tank and the warmer air in your home, react in a way that causes condensation. If condensation is the culprit behind the puddles near your tank then a leaking hot water heater isn’t a problem you should worry about.

Pressure Relief Valve

When the pressure in your water heater becomes too high, the relief valve opens and steam is released until the pressure is back to normal. The steam that has now been released into the air in your home can condensate and create a puddle under your water heater tank. This is not an indication of a leaking hot water heater. If this becomes a recurring issue, even after setting your water heater to a lower temperature, the cause is more than likely a broken pressure relief valve. A broken pressure relief valve can lead to danger and is a serious issue which should be taken care of promptly. Contact an experienced plumber to replace the broken valve with a brand new one.

Leaking Gaskets

In order to heat water, an electric water heater uses two heating elements. These elements are sealed with gaskets in order to avoid leakage. When the gaskets become damaged or are worn out a leaking hot water heater may be the result. Before you take a look at your water heater’s heating elements make sure to turn off the power supply to avoid any possible danger. Look around the gaskets for any water that may have leaked out. If you do find water near the gaskets that means that they definitely need to be replaced. Before you can remove or replace the gaskets or heating elements, make sure to drain the water heater tank.

Leaking Pipes

Most water heater connect to two different pipes — one is a hot water line and the other is a cold water supply. These pipes are typically connected by elbow joints. Loose elbow joints are often what leads to leaking pipes. Tighten any loose elbow joints and this may fix the problem. If the problem still persists, shut off the water and power supply, and then proceed to disconnect the joints. Take each fitting and wrap the threaded end with plumber’s tape. Reconnect the joints and and restart the power supply and water supply.

Leaking Tank

If the tank itself is leaking water and there appears to be no other cause for the water leaking, your water heater is in desperate need of replacement. Old water heater units will end up experiencing corrosion due to the persistent stress of cooling and heating water. Unfortunately, there is no way to repair or fix a leaking hot water heater.
